Best Mattress for Value 2020

Best Mattress for Value 2018

There are so many mattresses available at the moment, that sometimes it’s hard to sort through them all and find what is best for you and your budget.

As a bed reviewer, I’ve been sent a lot of mattresses to try out. They mostly ranged in price from $400 up to around $1200 (all are mattresses in a box—which are shipped to your house). While I haven’t found supremely comfortable beds at the $400 range, I have found a few amazing beds in the $600-$900 range.

I’ve done the research and compiled a helpful little list of our absolute faves that won’t break the bank.

Layla

The most important thing to know about the Layla Mattress is that it is actually two different mattresses. Put it one side up and it is a firmer mattress, flip it over and you have a softer mattress. This gives the sleeper a choice between soft and hard. If you are like me, you might just discover you actually prefer a different type of sleep than you originally thought.

Best Features: Great way to test out what you like, in a single mattress

Cost: $899 for a queen. Coupon link located here.

Amore

The Amore mattresses come in three versions—the soft, medium and firm. Back sleepers will prefer the firm version, and side sleepers will prefer the soft version. And if you and your partner have different sleeping styles, you can choose their dual firmness option and have your bed have a firm side and a soft side.

Best Features: Dual firmness option (extra $100), great responsiveness, firm version is great for back sleepers, soft is great for side sleepers.

Cost: $850 for a queen. Get $60 off with the code below.

Eight Sleep

The Eight Sleep mattress is different from the other on this list—it’s a Smart mattress. This means that the mattress itself hooks up via Wifi to your Smart Home system (e.g. Nest) and communicates about your temperature and restfulness while you’re sleeping. They work together to cool the room or warm the bed to keep you feeling snuggly and in a deep peaceful sleep.

Best Features: Smart mattress that optimizes your personal temperature for the ultimate sleeping experience

Cost: $1049 for a queen. Purchase one here.

Freedom Sleep Mattress

This one was a really nice surprise. The Freedom sleep is very new and it’s marketing felt a bit gimmicky, so I wasn’t expecting much from it. But this mattress actually delivers. It’s perfect for back and side sleepers, and is a nice combination of soft and comforting while providing a good amount of support. It felt like a fancy hotel bed.

Best Features: Great for couples with differing firmness needs, works for back and side sleepers, one of the lowest prices on the market.

Love and Sleep Mattress

I highly recommend The Love and Sleep Medium to side sleepers, back sleepers and stomach sleepers alike. It’s extremely versatile, which makes it great for couples who have different sleeping styles. It’s actually what my partner and I choose to sleep on every night (except when we’re reviewing other mattresses)—as one of us is a side sleeper and the other is a back sleeper. Yet we both adore this bed.

Best Features: Great for couples with differing firmness needs, works for back and side sleepers, one of the lower prices on the market.

Cost: $599 for a queen. No discount available, purchase here.

I hope I helped in your search for the best mattress for value. And if you end up buying one of these beds, I’d love to hear your feedback in the comments below.
