Our Turo Experience

It wouldn’t be a review if we didn’t test out the service. One of our testers needed an SUV to drive to Vegas. We had him walk through the entire process. It was amazing how easy it was.

Creating an account takes minutes. All you need is an email, credit card and drivers license. Customers enter their information and upload their drivers license. Once verified, you are ready to search for a car.

Our tester entered the dates of his trip. He used the filter to choose an SUV that would deliver to his house. There were quite a few, so he adjusted the price and miles allowed. That narrowed down the list to a few options. He selected the best looking SUV and rented it.

The car owner has 8 hours to accept or decline the rental. Turo said that this particular owner responded in around 47 minutes. He got back to us in less than 10 minutes this time. The owner accepted the rental and we were good to go.

Picking up the car was super easy. The owner and our reviewer both took images of the car and mileage. Our reviewer also had to show the owner his drivers license. Then the owner handed the keys to our reviewer.

They met back up when the trip was over. They took more pictures and shook hands. We couldn’t have been more pleased for our Turo Review. They put all the rules in place so that the exchange was safe and easy.

    Hello Elisa,
Please provide me with the before and after photos for this so called mileage charge, I’ve saved everything in my profile as there has been no photos or proper evidence to show the mileage has been exceed. Technically you are telling me a owner of vehicle can charge whatever they want and build a bill to make money, but show no evidence? For my own purpose, I’ve already saved the policy practice you guys follow and haven’t seen a single photo uploaded to document and show the proper milage has ever been exceed within 24 hours.
Please review your fine print below:
In order to take care of any additional mileage, the owner can request reimbursement from their guest by clicking “Request Reimbursement” from their Dashboard within seventy-two (72) hours of the end of the trip. To have the best experience, the owner or traveler should upload the starting and ending trip mileage by using Trip Photos in the app or site. The ending photos must have been taken within 24 hours of the end of the trip.
    1. “Memet” the car owner has yet to upload photos within 24 hours for this charge?
    2. Instead of focusing on charges to bring upon the client to pay in 72 hours, do you guys go simply on the owners word? Giving them the right away to charge whatever they desire to make a extra buck? instead of following your policy to upload and document the mileage?
    3. Please respond to the email and proceed with your collections procedures, I promise I will have more then enough evidence for credit bureau to reverse this collection against my credit report. I am more interested in writing on how you guys proceed and handle your own policies between renter and car owners for additional charges. Also, is the last email a template that is given to everyone that might gone over the mileage? or is that personal written email?
Please, give me your insight on how you guys create charges & follow your own policies between the renter and a car owner. If you don’t mind, can i cc my friend that is journalist on this email?
    Kind Regards,
    James
    _____________
Elise responds from turo informing me they didn’t properly support the client claim within 24 hours
    ______________

    Hey, James
Thank you for getting back to me on this,
I understand your confusion on this and let me please explain to you what happened.
So when the owner makes a reimbursement request, you as a traveler have 72 hours to either accept this charge or dispute it, given the situation that you did not dispute it within 72 hours of the request. this tool automatically resolved the reimbursement on the owner’s favor which created an unpaid balance in your account, again, keep in mind that this is a tool that if it gets not response within the given time it will act automatically.
However, I have looked into this reservation and you are completely correct on the part that there are no pictures to show this Excess mileage and that’s why before sending you this email, which purpose was to let you know that there is a hold on your account and the reason for it, I had emailed the owner as well asking to provide the the pictures we needed to confirm this reimbursement.
Again, I’m sorry for this inconvenience and just to let you know we are still waiting for the owner to provide the documentation needed before confirming his claim.
    Kind Regards,
    Elisa

This 4 days after i rented the car or 96 hours past there 24 hour requirement, to upload a photo of the milage. They techinally taking the clients word, so they and the client makes money? this scam legitimate illegal scam. Below is her response

    Hello James
Following up on your request for the pictures.
On this E-mail I will attach the documentation provided by Mr Memet Tataroglu which indicate that you in fact went over mileage in the conversation you had with him.
Please let me know when we can charge your card on file so that you are able to use our services again.
I hope this finds you well.

They never checked the mileage, attempted to use text message as way to charge me 96 hours after my rental? This legit dumb’s way to try to break you own rules. lol
    _______________________________

    Hello Elise,

This ground breaking to me, Please confirm all the details below. This is way to good to be true.

Mamet never provide the exact mileage within 24 Hours as you required in your own fine print, Correct? You just stated you will reach out to him and obtain the correct millage 96 hours later but you didn’t? but instead you obtain a text message, which is going beyond your own policy of the 24 hour photo upload of the millage documentation. To tell me your received a photo of the text?
Your Policy is to document the exact mileage and upload the photo of the mileage, not a text message, Correct?
What if told you, I have the exact mileage and time stamping regarding the mileage and told Mamet that I went over mileage to mess with him so he could only find out, i used exactly 100 miles and also detailed his car?

    1. In running a company, you guys need to properly follow your own policy especially when charging individual debit or credit card. Otherwise, your informing to me pacifically that you willing to break your own policy by 96 hours later, I mean 96 hours later! I have it written in a email 96 hours later lol, to inform me that you actually haven’t received the correct documentation? But now you have finally received the improper none required documentation 96 hours later.

    2. This will be amazing an article, as there could be thousands of people in this same illegal situation. I mean your talking about company going beyond there own policy to create there own policies for additional fee, without doing the proper dual diligent to charge a client debit or credit card.

    3. Lastly, the email you sent regarding collections, is that template or a personal written email. Also, going off last year numbers, how many booking did Turo make?
