If you've been looking for the Uber of computer help, two services now cover a wide range of US cities: Takl and HelloTech. Both send a background-checked provider to your house on demand, whether the problem is a sluggish laptop, a broken iPad or a TV that won't connect.

Takl is the broader of the two — it's a jack-of-all-trades home-help app also used for handyman, cleaning and gardening work — but its computer services are comprehensive, and its pricing is refreshingly upfront. A standard “Computer Service” job runs roughly $55, with no hidden costs or confusing quotes, and a promo code knocks another 10% off.

HelloTech, by contrast, works on tech only: computers, phones, tablets, TVs and other home electronics. That narrower focus can make it easier to describe your exact problem, but pricing is less visible upfront — its “Computer Help” option is listed only as “Starting at $79,” so the final cost can climb depending on the job.

Both apps follow the same basic flow: pick a job type, choose from a list of background-checked, customer-rated providers, and get an alert when help is on the way. Payment happens in the app, so there's nothing to sort out once the technician leaves.

We haven't found a clear winner between the two — Takl's pricing is more transparent, HelloTech is more specialized — so the better fit really depends on whether you value price clarity or a tech-only focus.
