Takl Chattanooga

Takl started in Nashville as an on-demand platform connecting customers with background-checked handymen and women, replacing the unregulated word-of-mouth and Yelp referrals that leave customers with little recourse if a job goes badly. It was live in Chattanooga at the time this guide was written.

Getting started takes under five minutes: download the free app on iPhone or Android, enter your location, and browse the list of jobs Takl covers — everything from snow removal to hiring a face painter for a birthday party. After signing up with basic account details, you enter your address, choose a provider and time, and the job is booked. New customers get 10% off their first job with code C2A74.

Takl is a two-sided marketplace, and Chattanooga providers can sign up through the Takl website's provider link. The process involves six steps — registering, listing your skills, completing a short online orientation, uploading a government ID, entering banking details, and passing a background check — similar in spirit to signing up to drive for a rideshare app.

Once approved, providers can keep their day jobs and pick up Takl jobs that fit their schedule, without needing to chase customers for payment or self-promote — strong ratings from completed jobs drive future work instead.

Since this guide was published, Takl has shut down -- our own Takl review has since been updated to confirm the service is no longer operating and to point readers toward Handy instead. We're leaving the original Chattanooga setup steps here for historical context, but the app, the C2A74 discount, and the provider signup process it describes are no longer live.
