The Verdict

Free Points for Habits You're Already Building

Carrot Rewards pays you for doing things that are good for you anyway — sync your daily steps and hit your goal, and points land in your account. Short two-to-five-minute health surveys add more points on a rolling basis, and the program connects to a handful of partner loyalty apps for even more ways to earn.

Setup is quick: download the app, create an account with your name, email and password, answer a few basic questions (postal code, age, gender), enter a bonus invite code for 1,250 free points, then link a loyalty program of your choice. The program is currently limited to British Columbia, Ontario, and Newfoundland and Labrador, though it's expanding.

Step tracking is the main ongoing earner. The app pulls from your phone or a connected wearable, and there's a 'Re-Sync' button that lets you claim points for step goals hit up to seven days back if you haven't opened the app — though anything older than that is lost for good.

Inviting friends sweetens the deal further: every new signup nets both of you another 1,250 points. Between steps, surveys and referrals, it's hard to find a real downside to signing up.

Pros

Why We Love It

  • Earns points for hitting daily step goals
  • Short health surveys add extra points regularly
  • Connects to partner loyalty programs for more ways to earn
  • 1,250-point referral bonus for both the inviter and the new signup
  • Free to join

Getting Started With Carrot

Account setup took a few minutes: name, email, password, then a handful of basic questions — postal code, age and gender — so Carrot can send more relevant offers. Entering an invite code at that stage adds 1,250 points immediately, and from there you pick a loyalty program to link, or join one of Carrot's partners.

The step-tracking side needs to be turned on separately in the Steps tab before it starts earning. Once enabled, it counts activity from your phone if you carry it, or from a paired wearable or smartwatch.

Don't Let Points Expire

The Re-Sync button only reaches back seven days — step goals you hit further back than that, without opening the app, can't be claimed.

We Recommend This To Readers Who:

  • Already track your steps

Point earning is automatic once step tracking is enabled from your phone or wearable.

  • Live in BC, Ontario or Newfoundland and Labrador

Carrot Rewards is currently limited to those regions, though it's expanding.

  • Have friends who'd sign up too

Each invite is worth 1,250 points for both you and the friend who joins.

The Bottom Line Conclusion:

An Easy Yes for Free Points

Carrot Rewards turns steps and quick surveys into real points with no real downside we could find — the invite code is worth grabbing before you sign up.
