Five Four Club Review
Curated Monthly Clothing
By removing that choice, I almost end up enjoying my Five Four items more.
Our reviewerNo Returns, Mostly No Regrets
Five Four Club builds its subscription around a styling quiz and a $60 monthly fee that typically brings around three seasonal items, four in this reviewed box. Unlike Trendy Butler or Stitch Fix, there's no option to return pieces outright, only exchange them for a different size.
That policy could easily backfire, but it mostly worked in the box's favor. The Akemi Pants fit a size 34 perfectly, hugging the waist without pressure, though the thick, heavy fabric leaned toward cooler weather. The Zacharias Shirt solved a chronically hard-to-fit build — tall and thin, with long sleeves and a trim stomach — in a lumberjack-adjacent style that happened to be on trend.
Not every piece landed: one shirt ran loose and baggy enough to be given away rather than worn, while a second shirt in an autumn brown color fit nicely and added a comfortable option with a wide range of motion, if with some concern about shrinking in the wash.
With four items that would have cost over $100 bought individually, free shipping, and cancellation available any time, the no-returns policy read less like a drawback and more like part of the deal.
Why We Love It
- Akemi Pants fit a 34 waist perfectly with room to move
- Zacharias Shirt solved a hard-to-fit long-sleeve, thin-stomach build
- One of the two shirts (autumn brown) fit well with good range of motion
- $60 brought 4 items that would cost over $100 retail
- Free shipping and easy cancellation anytime
Considerations
- No option to return items you don't like, only exchange for a different size
- One shirt ran too loose and baggy for our reviewer's build
- Akemi Pants are thick and heavy, better suited to cooler weather
Unboxing This Month's Five Four Club
The Akemi Pants were a near-perfect fit at a 34 waist, if thicker and heavier than ideal for a warmer climate. The Zacharias Shirt paired long sleeves with a trim stomach, a combination that's typically hard to find for a tall, thin build, and drew a good response despite its lumberjack-leaning style.
One shirt missed the mark, running too loose and baggy to keep, while a second shirt in an autumn brown color fit nicely with a wide range of motion, tempered only by a bit of worry about shrinkage in the wash.
No Returns Changes How You Shop
Unlike Trendy Butler or Stitch Fix, Five Four only allows exchanges for size, not full returns, a policy that made the pieces that do fit feel more deliberate.
We Recommend This To Readers Who:
-
Are tall and thin with a hard-to-fit build
The Zacharias Shirt delivered long sleeves with a trim stomach, a combination our reviewer called hard to find.
-
Are comfortable with exchanges instead of returns
Five Four only lets you exchange for size, not return outright, which favors decisive shoppers.
-
Want retail value above the subscription price
Four items this month would have cost over $100 bought separately, versus the $60 subscription fee.
