The Verdict

Never Stop for Gas Again

Between long commutes and a general aversion to gas-station stops, the Purple App's pitch — hand-delivered gas, wherever the car is parked — was an easy sell, and it held up in practice.

Setup is simple: create an account with a phone number and card, add the car's details, then request gas for a chosen time window. Requesting delivery for overnight means waking up to a full tank without ever detouring to a station.

It isn't flawless. A friend's car was parked with the gas cap facing away from the street on his first order, forcing a re-park — though Purple has since changed its fill-up method so tank orientation no longer matters. What still matters is making sure the gas cap isn't locked, or Purple has to call to get access.

Gas through the app runs $3.49 a gallon against $3.29 at the pump, plus a $5.99 delivery fee that's waived for monthly members. New users can also knock $5 off their first fill-up with code B4TFZ.

Pros

Why We Love It

  • The gas comes to you
  • Super easy to use the Purple App
  • Never had any trouble with gas fill-ups
  • Save $5 on your first fill-up with code B4TFZ
Cons

Considerations

  • Prices are a little higher than at the gas station
  • Car needs to be accessible (parked on the street)

Our Hands-On Review

Account setup takes just a phone number, card details and the car's information, and requesting a delivery window is just as quick — most nights, gas shows up while the car (and its owner) are asleep.

The one hiccup involved a locked gas cap and a car parked the 'wrong' way — Purple has since adjusted its fill-up process so orientation no longer matters, but an accessible, unlocked gas cap is still required.

Pricing Breakdown

Expect to pay about 20 cents more per gallon than the pump price, plus a $5.99 delivery fee — waived for monthly members, and often avoidable via newsletter coupons.

We Recommend This To Readers Who:

  • Hate stopping at gas stations

Request a delivery window and wake up to a full tank.

  • Can park on the street overnight

Purple needs access to an unlocked gas cap to fill up.

  • Don't mind paying a small premium

Gas runs about 20 cents more per gallon than the pump, plus a delivery fee that's waivable.
