GhostBed is Nature's Sleep's latest mattress, combining latex and memory foam in a way that gives it a distinct two-stage feel. It starts at a firmness of 8, then softens noticeably within a few minutes as the latex gives way to the memory foam underneath, settling to a firmness of 7.
That transition delivered real support without sacrificing cushion. Both back and side sleepers among our testers liked the feel, and the support held up over time without ever creating unnecessary pressure. At 11 inches tall, a full inch more than many competitors, the GhostBed has extra room for both its firm foundation and its soft memory foam top.
Sinkage averaged around 2 inches, more than we expected from a mattress this firm, though lighter sleepers sank closer to 1 to 1.5 inches. The gradual transition from latex to memory foam made for a smooth, comfortable sleep despite the sinkage.
Temperature was a pleasant surprise. With 2 inches of latex sitting above the memory foam, hot air escapes quickly rather than getting trapped, keeping the bed cool even though memory foam is normally the layer that holds heat. Some off-gassing was reported on unboxing, easily solved by airing the room out for an hour or two.
Between the firm-to-soft transition, the cooling latex top, and the 101-night trial backing it up, the GhostBed earned its place as a mattress we'd recommend without hesitation.
